As a member of the Association of Theological Education in Southeast Asia (ATESEA), PBTS underwent an accreditation visit last July 10-13, 2019. The accreditation team was composed of Dr. Augustinus Setiawidi (Dean, Jakarta Theological Seminary), Dr. Limuel Equiña (Executive Director, ATESEA), and Ms. Charlotte Santos (Head Librarian, Saint Andrews Theological Seminary). The accreditation, scheduled every 5 years includes a series of meetings and observations on administrative and educational operations.
Dr. Equiña also spoke during the Convocation Chapel to formally open the academic year. Equiña spoke on who is fit for service in the Kingdom of God based on Luke 9:51-62. For Equiña, those who are fit to serve in the Kingdom of God are those who have focus and is able to be a “nomad” in following Christ, wherever that may lead. Equiña then related the necessary qualities of those Kingdom workers with the ATESEA goals of forming workers and leaders who are critical, contextual, and pastoral.
During the convocation, Asia Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary also held a graduation ceremony, conferring Sangkyul “Samuel” Lee, the degree of Doctor of Religious education. Lee’s dissertation is entitled: “An Analysis of the Faith Maturity of Pre-Adolescent Among Southern Baptist Churches in Dagupan, Philippines as a Basis for Assessing Sunday School Curriculum.”
