The year 2018 was opened with the holding of the Lide-Walker Bible Conference of the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary on January 8-10.  This is an annual conference sponsored by the seminary for the spiritual rejuvenation of pastors, church workers and leaders.  There were 654 registered delegates from the various regions of the country.  Dr. Guy and Roxanna Grimes from California, featured speakers, spoke on the topic “Foundations for Healthy and Lasting Relationships.”

Subsequently the 5th Seminary Theological Education Summit was held on January 11, 2018 where Dr. Guy Grime was also the invited lecturer.  The theme is “Zealousness with Knowledge and Without Shortcut.” Fifty-five SEE facilitators and 9 prospective applicants attended the Summit.

On Academic Matters, graduation will be held on March 9, 2018.  There are 98 students expecting for graduation this year:  Resident School, 36 and Seminary Education Extension, 62, as follows:

The Music Department conducted a series of recitals performed by the graduating music students:

  • *Than Za Vum, “Jubilation” featuring the Baguio Baptist Church choir, February 9, 2018
  • *Timmy Ye Lynn Htut, “The Mind of Christ,” featuring the Baguio City Foursquare Church, February 16, 2018.
  • *Cleo Jo, “Celebrate the Music,” featuring the High Crest Bible Baptist, February 23, 2018.

Also the PBTS Tanglaw Singers are preparing intensely as they are going to represent the seminary to a musical competition in Singapore on July 1-4, 2018.

Seminary Education Extension.  The recently started center is the Saved by Grace Baptist Church in Naguilian, La Union.

Institutional and Organizational Partners. Last January 29 to February 16, 2018, both Dr. Michael Janapin (Academic Dean) and Dr. Armand Canoy (President) visited Samford University and the Mountain Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.  These ministry partners are helping in establishing the ELIM Church Media Center for Asia in PBTS. Dr. Canoy and Dr. Janapin also visited other partners and PBTS alumni in California and in Los Angeles.
